TURTLE FEEDING

Diet:

    • Omnivorous diet: Offer a varied diet consisting of commercial turtle pellets, live or frozen insects (such as crickets, mealworms, and earthworms), small fish, and dark leafy greens (e.g., kale, collard greens). Some turtles, such as aquatic turtle species, may enjoy occasional fresh fish as part of their diet. Small, gutted fish like whitebait, sprats, or sardines can be chopped up and offered as a treat. However, it is important to ensure that the fish is sourced from a reputable supplier, free from additives or preservatives. Fresh salmon can be provided once a week in moderation, as it is a fatty fish. It is essential to avoid feeding turtles canned fish, crab sticks, pork, and red meat. These items are not suitable for their digestion and can lead to health issues.
    • BLOODWORM ONLY TO BE FED AS A TREAT.
    • Feeding frequency: Feed young musk turtles daily, while adult turtles can be fed every other day. Remove any uneaten food to maintain water quality.
    • Feeding amount: Only feed a turtle the amount of food that would fill its head if empty as over feeding can lead to obesity very quickly.
